Biography
Archana Kannan is a Ph.D. student in the Ming Hsieh Department of Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California (USC). She received her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology, India, in 2018. She got her Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from USC in 2020. She is currently a Graduate Research Assistant at MiXIL under the guidance of Prof. Moghaddam, working towards her Ph.D. Her research interests include physics-guided machine learning for active/passive microwave remote sensing for enhancing Earth observations. Applications range from high-resolution soil moisture retrieval to wildfire-burned areas mapping.
